Bermudagrass
Species Overview
Bermudagrass plays a vital role in warm-season turf systems across the southern United States and beyond. Known for its durability, rapid recovery, and high performance under heat and traffic, Bermudagrass is an essential species for landscapes, sports fields, and golf courses that demand both resilience and visual quality.
About the New TWCA Bermudagrass Trial
TWCA is launching a new Bermudagrass trial designed to evaluate warm-season cultivars for drought response, performance, and water-use efficiency under controlled stress conditions.
The goal of this multi-site study is to expand the database of Bermudagrass water-efficiency data and identify cultivars that maintain quality and recovery during extended dry periods. Data will be collected through standardized TWCA methods including drought simulation, digital image analysis, and recovery scoring to ensure scientific consistency and credibility.
This trial begins in 2025 and runs through 2029, delivering actionable results that support future TWCA qualification decisions and help the industry advance sustainable warm-season turf solutions.
